December 2013
Congratulations to PCIGR student Sri Budhi Utami and PCIGR postdoctoral fellow Emily Mullen, who were recently awarded travel grants!
Sri received a 2013 AGU Fall Meeting Student Travel Grant, valued at $1000, to present her research on “What do Kauai’s dikes tell us about the Loa and Kea trends?”
Emily received a UBC Faculty of Science Postdoctoral Travel Award, valued at $2250, to give an oral presentation on “Mantle Compositional Gradients in a Hot Subduction Setting, the Garibaldi Volcanic Belt, Northern Cascade Arc” at the 2013 Goldschmidt conference in Florence, Italy.
Both awards are highly competitive and are designed to assist young scientists with travel expenses to attend conferences and present their research.
